The Need for Speed

I’ve been knocked out on the trip by the crazy speeds you can travel on interstate highways.  75 is routine and we’ve even seen 80.  Which means everyone is driving 90-100.  I swallowed really hard when I saw the speedometer on our car slide up to 101.  And we were being passed!

One day we were running really late for our “scheduled” stops and we decided to let one slide until first thing the next morning.  We reasoned we could get up early and be at the park when it opened at 8.  Because we had to do some backtracking for this park, we were in a hurry.  We got there and the gates were still locked.  We pulled up to the ranger’s station and waited.  Soon the ranger pulled up beside us and walked to the driver’s window.

“Come to see the park?”

“Yes”

“When you blew past me doing 89 on the Interstate, I KNEW you were coming here.”

“Yes, Sir”

John rolled up his window and we burst into gales of laughter.
